Report on the future of tropical deforestation

The Center for Global Development (CGD), Washington has released a report on the future of tropical deforestation from 2016 - 2050 with and without carbon pricing policies.
The report says that in next 35 years, an area of tropical forest equivalent to the size of India will be deforested; as a result tropical deforestation will add 169 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by 2050, the equivalent of running 44000 coal-fired power plants for a year.
According to a separate study published earlier this year by NASA, tropical forests are absorbing carbon dioxide at a far higher rate than previously thought, making them an invaluable resource in curbing global warming.
