Indian Vice-President went to Cambodia for a four-day official visit. The two countries signed two MoUs— on tourism, and on the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Initiative.
The Mekong-Ganga MoU related to five ‘quick impact projects’ which are:
Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC)
Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC) was established in 2000 at Vientiane at the first MGC Ministerial Meeting. It comprises six member countries viz. India, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The organization takes its name from two large rivers Ganga and Mekong flowing in the region. MGC emphasises on four areas of cooperation including tourism, education, culture and transportation linkage for solid foundation of trade and investment cooperation in the region.

The MoUs cover Air Services Agreement to start direct flights between two countries and another agreement for three Quick Impact Projects (under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation programme) in the agriculture sector.
