Pratham-Shyok bridge in Leh
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Pratham-Shyok Bridge that will link Leh to Karakoram, providing connectivity on the strategically important Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Olde axis for military transport. The bridge is a major development on the Shyok Gong river which will enhance travel of locals as well as the Army in this strategic region. It will increase travel and communication for strategic transport, the Minister said.

'Single Click Pension Delivery' scheme
This scheme is launched by Madhya Pradesh Government, wherein the money will go directly into the account of the beneficiaries. More than 35 lakh people of the state will be benefitted from this move.

Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017
A high-level delegation from the Government of India and the United States met, at NITI Aayog to plan the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held November 28-30 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Hyderabad, India.

Cabinet approves the Extradition Treaty between India and Lithuania
 The Union Cabinet has given its approval for the signing and ratification of the Extradition Treaty between India and Lithuania. The Treaty would provide a legal framework for seeking extradition of terrorists, economic offenders and other criminals from and to Lithuania. The Treaty would help in extradition of fugitive criminals including terrorists for criminal prosecutions from Lithuania who may have committed crimes against India. It will bring the criminals to justice, with a view to ensure peace and tranquility to public at large.

Bangladesh Signs USD 4.5 Billion Loan Deal with India  Bangladesh signed a USD 4.5 billion third line of credit (LoC) agreement with India for its infrastructure and social sector development. This line of credit will be used to fund 17 major projects in Bangladesh, which include electricity, railroads, roads, shipping and ports.

High-level Task Force on Public Credit Registry: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has formed a High-level Task Force on Public Credit Registry (PCR) for India. The task force has been constituted under the chairmanship of Yeshwant M. Deosthalee. It will review the current availability of information on credit, the adequacy of existing information system and identify gaps that could be filled by a PCR.

Environment and Ecology

Rajiv Kumar Committee : The Government has constituted a high-level committee for proper management of the water resources in the North Eastern Region (NER) under the Chairmanship of Rajiv Kumar, Vice-Chairman, Niti Aayog. The Committee would facilitate optimising benefits of appropriate water management in the form of hydro-electric power, agriculture, bio-diversity conservation, reduced flood damage erosion, inland water transport, forestry, fishery and eco-tourism.
Turtle Sanctuary : In order to protect the rich aquatic biodiversity of river Ganga from escalating anthropogenic pressures, development of a Turtle sanctuary in Allahabad along with a River Biodiversity Park at Sangam have been approved under Namami Gange programme. The project at an estimated cost of Rs 1.34 crore would include development of River Biodiversity Park at Sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati), establishment of a Turtle Rearing Centre (Permanent nursery at Triveni Pushp and makeshift annual hatcheries) and awareness about the importance of river Ganga and imperativeness of its conservation has been approved.
Secure Himalaya project: The Centre launched a six-year project to ensure conservation of locally and globally significant biodiversity, land and forest resources in the high Himalayan ecosystem spread over four states in India. Protection of snow leopard and other endangered species and their habitats is one of the key components of the project which will also focus on securing livelihoods of the people in the region and enhancing enforcement to reduce wildlife crime.

Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine: The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute has decided to award the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael W. Young for their discoveries of molecular mechanisms controlling the circadian rhythm.

Nobel prize in physics : Three American physicists have won the Nobel prize in physics for the first observations of gravitational waves. All three scientists have played leading roles in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, or Ligo, experiment, which in 2015 made the first historic observation of gravitational waves.
Bhimsen Joshi award: Noted vocalist Manik Bhide was chosen for the prestigious Bharatratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi award for year 2017-18 for her contribution in the field of music. This award is given by the Maharashtra government .
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2017: The 2017 Nobel Prize in chemistry has been awarded to three scientists for improving images made of biological molecules: Jacques Dubochet, Joachim Frank and Richard Henderson. They developed a technique called cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), which simplifies the process for looking at the machinery of life.

2017 Nobel Prize in Peace The 2017 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a coalition of non-governmental organisations from over 100 countries around the globe.
