Super Village Challenge

The authorities have launched ‘Super Village Challenge’, a programme to give a push to development projects and ensure success through speedy implementation at the village level. Palwal is reportedly the first district in the country to launch this pilot project.

Concept & areas covered:

• It has been claimed that ‘Super Village Challenge’ is a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at using a competitive framework to encourage village sarpanches and panchayats to achieve a diverse range of development parameters in a given time frame.
• Work related to open-defecation-free sustainability, women empowerment, education, skill development and innovation at the village level would be taken into account for calculating points scored by a village.
• Each parameter had its respective target and points and top-performing villages at the district and block levels would be rewarded with special work orders of a budget up to Rs 15 lakh.  
• Sarpanch can upload self-declaration about achievement with help of login ID, after which experts of department concerned will assess claim and award points.

Awards:

• The results of the ‘Super Village Challenge’ would be announced after conclusion of the first phase on February 15 next. The programme could be extended depending upon its success.
• Villages securing the first, second and third spots at the district level would be awarded work orders worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, respectively.
• Block-level winners would get work orders for Rs 10 lakh, Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh, respectively.
