- India’s first Technology & Innovation Support Centre (TISC) has been set up at Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST). It has been set up by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the United Nations through the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP).
- The centre was inaugurated by Roshan Sunkaria, Principal Secretary, Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Punjab, and Andrew Czajkowski, Head, Technology & Innovation Support Division of WIPO.
- The centre will serve as a gateway to connect innovators of the region with the global TISC network. To date, WIPO has established over 600 such centres in 71 countries.
The TISC programme aims at providing innovators in developing countries access to local high quality technology information and related services, helping them create, protect and manage their intellectual property rights.
