To check vulgarity and content that promotes violence and drugs in Punjabi songs, the government has announced to set up the Punjab Culture Commission. Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said the decision had been taken amid concerns over rising vulgarity in Punjabi songs.
Highlights:
Composition: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would be patron-in-chief and Sidhu would be the patron of the commission. The responsibility of recommending other members has been entrusted to the Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad, Surjit Patar, who will also be the chairman of the commission.
