 Monti Rajkhowa, the First Assamese Woman to Scale Mount Kanchenjunga

• Monti, who is professionally an executive engineer of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC) based in Mumbai, is the first lady
• ONGC officer among her male counterparts to have managed to scale the world’s toughest peak.
• She was born and brought up in Meghalaya, Monti as a child opened her path to adventurous trekking amid the slopes and valleys of the hilly state.
• The ONGC Kanchenjunga expedition was flagged off by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in April 2018.
• Monti's journey into the adventurous path has been an inspiring tale and her sporty spirit has served as a catalyst for breaking stereotypical attitudes prevalent in the ASsam and country.

Mount Kanchenjunga:

• Kangchenjunga also spelled Kanchenjunga, is the third highest mountain in the world, and lies partly in Nepal and partly in Sikkim, India.
• It rises with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) in a section of the Himalayas called Kangchenjunga Himal that is limited in the west by the Tamur River, in the north by the Lhonak Chu and Jongsang La, and in the east by the Teesta River.
