Conference on zero-budget farming.
Governor Acharya Devvrat will inaugurate a conference on zero-budget natural farming.
A spokesperson for the department said Subhash Palekar, a Padma Shri awardee, would address the gathering on the occasion.
He said the state government had launched “Prakritik Kheti, Khushal Kisan Yojana” to encourage natural farming in the state. Under this scheme, a provision of Rs 25 crore had been made for providing necessary equipment and training to farmers.
Acharya Debavratt said that zero cost natural agricultural system is the only option for chemical and organic farming. While this agriculture is safe, it has the ability to double the income of the farmers. The production cost under this system is zero and the products are also absolutely pure. About Zero Budget natural farming : Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is a farming practice that believes in natural growth of crops without adding any fertilizers and pesticides or any other foriegn elements. The word Zero Budget refers to the zero net cost of production of all crops (inter crops, border crops, multi crops). The inputs used for seed treatments and other inocluations are locally available in the form of cowdung and cow urine.
A ZBNF practicisng farmer has lower cost of inputs and thus has better capacity to increase the incomes. At the same time, ZBNF crops helps in retaining soil fertiliting and is climate change resilient.Insects from the farm, it also helps in creating high quality products.
Prakritik kheti-khushhal Kisan In order to encourage 'Zero budget Natural Farming' in the state, a new scheme 'Prakritik kheti-khushhal Kisan' will be launched with a budget provision of Rs. 25 crore. Under the scheme farmers would be provided training, necessary equipments, bio-pesticides, bio-insecticides, etc.
