statistics- as per official data quinoa is being cultivated on 3300 hectares in 11 districts of agriculture division including bikaner, bhilwara , jalor and udaipur by 10000 farmers. its production is 60000 quintals. quinoa is cultivated in peru, bolivia, china, canada, england and many other countries.
advantages of quinoa- it can be grown on alkaline and barren lands and it can sustain drought and ground frost. it comes with the added incentive of being insect-resistent.quinoa is suitable to climatic condtions of rajasthan. quinoa is also called a super food and mother grain due to its nutritious values. quinoa, being glutan-free being provide to be a boon for those who suffering from celiac disease. around 10000 children in rajasthan has glutan energy. quinoa is better option for people who have glutan allergy and can not consume gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.
