Introduction:-
Jharkhand state has a combination of a variety of tribes (32) and occupational artisan castes.The tribes include two linguistic groups: the mundari linguistic groupincluding the Santhal, Ho and Munda; and the Dravidian linguistic group- including the Oraon, Chero, and Gond.
Some primitive tribes are still present in Jharkhand who are totally dependent on forest and hunting. Dancing and singing is the base of tribal community of Jharkhand. Tribals say that to speak is music and to walk is dance. Jharkhand has many famous tribal writers. Tribals have good knowledge of herbal medicines. Tribal society of Jharkhand uses folk tales for entertainment.
Chotanagpur is part of Jharkhand from where the tribes can be said to be originated. Tribal society has some specific cultural identity. There have happened many cultural movements in tribal society in Jharkhand. It is also the place of origin of the Munda tribes. The state of Jharkhand was created in the year 2000 after a long and protracted demand for a separate state. „The longstanding demand for a separate state in Jharkhand has underlined the distinctive tribal heritage and culture of the region as the primary reason for alternative administrative and political arrangements.? Jharkhand has been confronting political disability since its foundation. Jharkhand couldn?t achieve its goals like reducing poverty, job security of domicile people, health, education etc.
Tribal made farms and are still engaged in farming. They believe that hill, river and forest are lifelines of tribal society in Jharkhand. They can do anything to save them. Many tribal societies don?t have any clear understanding of Naxal politics and their roles in Jharkhand. But it is true that Naxalism made tribe suspect in main stream society.
