Telecom watchdog Telecom regulatory authority of India TRAI has released a set of recommendations regarding privacy , security and ownership of data in the telecom sector . It says both collectors and processors should be accountable for unintended harm caused to the user . It has also suggested that existing laws that apply to telecom servcie providers should also apply to all entities in digital ecosystem . TRAI has also said in its recommendations that the right to choice , Notice , consent , data portability and right to be forgotten should be conferred upon the consumers .
Meanwhile a committee led by retired supreme court judge B N Shrikrishna is reading the efforts from the govt to draft new data privacy laws .
